Door County

Door County Wisconsin

August 10-12, 2017

Attending:  Connie, Lisa L, Brenda, Peggy, Lisa L and Julie

We met at the house we were staying late in the afternoon on Thursday.  Lisa drove the Iowa crew and Lisa R. met us there.  She got there first and had snacks and cocktails waiting us for.

After breakfast we jumped in the car and headed for our first adventure - Zip Lining.  We are always looking for a reason to wear a helmet!

After signing paperwork that said we wouldn't sue them if we were injured or died, we were given harnesses and suited up.

Then it was time to climb up to the first zip line and lock in.

And then it was time to zip.  We all had a great time and even hammed it up a bit as we were flying.

We took an after picture to document that we did survive.  We were smiling even bigger afterwards than before we started.

After Zip Lining we found a winery and enjoyed a wine tasting.

Then it was time to shop for dinner.  Connie our organized bargain shopper led the effort.

We always eat well on our trips.  This meal was talapia, sweet corn and salad.  And we washed it down with some fine Wisconsin beer.

The next day we took a ferry to Washington Island for some hiking and exploring.

The trails were pretty easy, but that didn't stop Julie from tripping on a rock emedded in the trail and doing a face plant.  Luckily, Brenda was there to apply first aid.  And Lisa L. kicked the rock to teach it not to trip hikers.

We spent a little time on the beach.  It was rocky beach and we did a little rock skipping while we were there.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the view.

Before getting on the ferry to go back we took one more group shot.  That night we made dinner and toasted.  Got up the next morning and headed back home.

The car with the Iowa BVE stopped for lunch on the way home.  About 2 hours after lunch we stopped to stretch our legs and get sodas.  It was then that Peggy realized she did not have her purse; she had left it at the restaurant where we had lunch.  Luckily for us, her Uncle Tom lived closed to the town we stopped at for lunch.  He went and got her purse and shipped it to her house.  That saved us a 4 hour round trip to retrieve the purse.  To this day, we always check to make sure that Peggy has her purse when we leave any place.
